Willie J. Burrell

Willie James Burrell was born to Cardie and Elvin Burrell on April 8, 1935 in Spur, TX. He was their fourth born child and their first-born son.

He spent his formative years in Spur. He started working at the age of 6 and he worked well into his 80’s. In Spur, he met Virdia Richardson, the woman who would be his wife for almost 50 years.  The couple would move to Lubbock, TX and start their family. In 1966 the family would move to Albuquerque, NM.

Willie was an attentive husband, amazing father, phenomenal grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a man of honor and dedication. Willie gave his everything to his wife, children, and grandchildren, and he worked tirelessly for his church. He loved God, his family, his church, and pastor, Gunsmoke, Spur, TX, and a good banana pudding.

Willie is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Virdia, two brothers (Cecil and Elvin Jr.), and three sisters (Alva Lois, Annie “Mildred”, Eula Marie).

He leaves to cherish his memory: his sister Bernie C McKinney of Lubbock, TX, daughters: Sharon Liggins (Odell), Karen Lewis both of Arlington, TX, two sons: Anthony D. Burrell Sr and Tracy Burrell both of Albuquerque, NM and a special daughter Wainy Richardson of Arlington, TX.  10 grandchildren: Demetria, Nida, Jay, LaNisha, Anthony “AJ”, Anthony III, Drew, Aleria, Shantil, and Haven. 17 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family of Willie Burrell wants to thank everyone for every kind word or deed. We appreciate you all.
