Truett Gatschet Jackson

July 14, 1981 — December 14, 2024

Albuquerque

Truett died on Saturday, 14 December 2024, from smoke inhalation injuries sustained in an early morning fire at his home the prior Thursday, 12 December 2024. He suffered no external burns. He is beloved.

Truett was born to Eileen and Dennis Jackson on 14 July 1981 in Albuquerque. For the past twenty-two years, Karen Miller, Dennis‘partner, has been a loving and “I’ll be there” person in Dennis’ life. Truett’s siblings are Keenan (Katie), Dailey (Margot), and Chandley Gatschet Jackson. On the McCann Jackson side are his half-siblings Devon and Kyle. His stepbrother and sister are Grey and Clare Parker. He was preceded in death by grandparents Bill and Pam Gatschet, and Frank and Kathleen Jackson. He is survived by his aunts and uncles: Tom Schlossberg and Janis Gatschet, Woody and Cheryl (a special bond) Supple, Brian and Susan Gatschet, Biff and Carolyn (deceased) Jackson, Steve and Marina Jackson, Robert and Debora Jackson, Randy (deceased) and Teka Jackson. He has a myriad of cousins from the Rockies to the Southeast U.S., who he laughed and enjoyed time with as a child and an adult. He is Uncle Truett to Jonesy and Grant Dale Jackson, Bradley Pilot and Ridley Nash Jackson, and Luella Jackson Wood (father, Matthew Wood). His attentive and loving personality was a shining star in their lives. Jasper McCann Jackson Grossman, an adult nephew, lives in Santa Fe.

Truett is well-known and well-loved by a multitude of friends he held dear in return. He had a way of accepting and understanding every person he crossed paths with, invoking a profound feeling of belonging. His brilliant mind was paired with a hilarious nature and a knack for dazzling and comforting those in his presence. Truett was a gentleman most dapper and classy. He was incredibly handsome and stylish. Savvy and polite, he always listened intently and knew the right thing to say. He had a strong sense of fairness, justice, and bravery. His character was unique. He made leaps of healing rare for any grown human, which landed him in a place where he was an unwavering and incomparable pillar of support to himself and everyone around him at his end. He possessed a spirituality he had formed through a lifetime of pulling strands from various belief systems and nature. His utilized his deep well of knowledge and wisdom to curate his own brand of worship of what felt pure to his soul. He held in high esteem the phases of the moon, the minerals of the earth, and the teachings of Amma. Truett was very knowledgeable about movies, music, and current events—the social-political circus of our times— and he enjoyed sharing his thoughts on all of these with his family and friends. He returned to Albuquerque five years ago after five years of residence in Santa Fe. He lived in Portland and Chicago as a young adult as well. More recently, he enrolled as a student at CNM with the aim of getting into the Radiology Technician program in 2025. He was an excellent, committed student, and he would have achieved this aim had not death intervened.

May we allow ourselves to be better for knowing him and to spread joy and unity as he would want.

Remember him every blue sky day and full moon night. He is here, there, everywhere.

Truett was an organ donor, and by the time you read this, he will have been interred at Fairview Memorial Park. A memorial gathering for Truett will occur for family and friends in the future. An announcement will be made in ample time beforehand.
