Tricia Alicia Garcia, 30 a resident of Albuquerque NM passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday October 28, 2015. Tricia born September 5, 1985 to Mary Jo Hendrickson in Espanola NM. Tricia graduated in 2004 from Española High School. In January 2011, Tricia moved to Albuquerque NM. Tricia attended Adelante Arts and Animals program and began working for Adelante document imaging in 2013. Tricia took pride in her work and earning money for herself.
Tricia was an avid athlete, who loved to play basketball run track for Special Olympics as well as competing in bowling and poly hockey. She was proud of her medals and hung them proudly in her room.
Tricia loved music and loved to dance. She enjoyed going to concerts with her family and friends and enjoyed listening to her brother in law play guitar and at times would sing and dance along to his music.
Tricia was also very artistic. She enjoyed drawing and painting and doing projects with her roomates. She also loved to crochet blankets and make jewelry. She hosted art shows twice a year to display her drawings and jewelry.
But most of all she was a loving daughter, sister, cousin and friend. Tricia loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Jo Hendrickson of Española NM, her brother Roy Paul Elam, grandparents Roy and Ermina Hendrickson.
Tricia is survived by her sister, Tonia Elam and husband Carl Gonzales of Albuquerque, brother Tim Salazar of Rio Rancho, niece Isabella Salazar and nephew Benjamin Salazar both of Rio Rancho and brother Tony Elam of Los Lunas, NM.
Tricia also had an extended family that loved and accepted her and gave her joy in her life; Leo and Elaine Gonzales, Christine, Edward, Whitney, Ryan and Brendon Quintana; Billy, Andriana and Leon Isengard; Deborah, Chris, Aaron, James and Joseph Hollinger; Jessica Lucero, Jason Taylor and Jason Jr.
Although Tricia faced many challenges in her life, she would not allow her disabilities define her and made leaps and bounds in her life with the love and support from her team; Cheryl Cericola, with Carino Case Management, Marti Romero with Enchantment Center, Sarah Temple with Laurie Ross Brennan Agency, Reekah Hindi, Occupational Therapist and Christina Phisical Therapist and lastly but certainly not least, Providence Support Services; Jaime, Michelle, Jody, Susan, April, Jessica, Carolene, Antionette, Amber, Bobby Joe and Louisa
Tricia was an amazing young woman who touched all of our lives. The joy she had for life resonated in her smile, in her laugh and in her dance. She would often pray and thank God for family, friends and caregivers. Her need and desire to help others influenced the people around her. Her creations were vibrant and positive always. She was also known to sing herself to sleep. Rest in peace Tricia. Viewing and Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Strong-Thorne Chapel, 1100 Coal Ave SE, Albuquerque. The Funeral Service will be held at 8:00 AM on Friday, November 6, 2015, also at Strong-Thorne Chapel, 1100 Coal Ave SE, Albuquerque. Tricia will be laid to rest with her mother, Mary Jo Hendrickson, at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 9:45 AM on Friday, November 6, 2015.
