Tasha Frazier was born August 29 ,1977 to Agnes Cordova and Alphonso Frazier in Albuquerque NM. Tasha spent her youth growing up in San Diego California. At a young age Tasha, her mother Agnes and brother MacArthur (Mac) worked together as a family doing a paper route out of their station wagon. She was continuously by her mom's side as a wonderful daughter supporting her mother. Even as a child she took many trips on her bike to pick up big gulps for her mother.
Tasha had a heart of gold that overflowed with light of love and in San Diego at 16 years old she served as an AIDs peer counselor during the AIDs epidemic. She was a first generation Black person in her Indigenous Family. She participated in learning about Indigenous traditional practices, values, culture, and more. She traveled with her dad, NT (Ned Washington), Agnes and Mac often to Pow Wows making and selling turtle purses, jewelry, and more. She competed and won the title of Indian Princess, which was a proud accomplishment of Tasha.
In 1994 she moved to Albuquerque, NM, graduated at Highland High School, and started her journey raising four beautiful children. During her 29 years living in Albuquerque she grew an extended family of loved ones. Tasha was a loving daughter, sister, cousin, mother, aunt and friend. She dedicated her life to raising her children to be the best people they can be. She was with her loving partner, TC (Loeb Cotton) for 17 years. They had one daughter, Za’Nayah, and TC also cared for his three stepchildren Malikee, Avonna, and Cheyenne. Tasha was extremely active in her bonus child’s life, La’Marion Coleman and considered him her son.
She was a gifted professional beautician and completed beauty school. It was important for her to give back to the community and in doing so she lowered her prices for hairstyling to make it affordable, especially for young people. Tasha was a talented designer. She made blankets, bonnets, bucket hats, diaper bags, and more. It was so beautiful to receive one of the items she made as a gift because you knew that it was made out of love.
When we say she was the best cook; she really was. Our friends and family would always want to eat her delicious food. Our favorite meals she made were Indian tacos, red flat enchiladas, gumbo, and jambalaya. She used her gift of cooking and creativity to host all the events; birthday parties, baby showers, and school activities. Tasha’s children were her world and she prioritized making sure all their needs were met. No matter what you needed she was there for you, if you needed a place to stay she welcomed you into her home. She was so much of a comedian, her laughter would always bring you joy and make you laugh.
Our mother is our hero.We don’t know how she did it but she figured out how to be at more than one place at once. Whether it was attending our basketball games, ROTC, track meets, dropping us off at work; she found a way to do it all. Tasha lived for her mother, this was a core value of hers. She stood on her morals and up until she passed she provided care for her.
Tasha was genuine, peer hearted and will always be in our hearts. She transitioned onto her journey to be with God on Sunday, October 15, 2023 and is preceded in death by her father Alphonso Frazier, dad NT, and reunited with her mother Agnes Cordova a week later; and her life long partner TC. Tasha leaves to cherish her memories her children Malikee Peoples, Avonna Frazier, Cheyenne Frazier, and Za’Nayah Frazier; her son La’Marion Coleman; goddaughter Dequavia Heckard; grandchildren Legend and Legacy Peoples; nieces, nephews, and a host of family members and friends.
