Steven Daniels, 74 years old passed away too soon on Monday, June 17, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born in Manhattan, New York to Mr. Frank Daniels Sr. and Mrs. Goldie Daniels. (who preceeded him in death). He was the oldest of nine children born out of this union.
He was educated in New York City public school system where he attended PS 30 elementary school, 142 junior High School and John Jay High School. Steven was a dedicated member of Red Hook Gospel Assembly Church in Brooklyn, New York.
After his high school education, he worked at several nursing homes in Far Rockaway in New York. Then he went to work for Manhattan Bowery, feeding the homeless in New York City parks. He finally held a kitchen supervisory position for over twenty years with the City Of New York homeless shelter at the Atlantic Armory in Brooklyn, New York.
Steven was an avid lover of animals of all kinds, especially dogs (boxers, german pintos, pitbull’s, weimaraner’s and host of other dogs). His love was also extended to turtle, iguanas, birds, and many species of snakes. He donated his snakes to the wildlife zoo in New York City before moving to New Mexico. He was very handy not only in building and fixing things at home but also built cages for his animals. His love for his animals culminated in him addressing them as his friends.
His other interest were sewing, cooking and watching old cowboy movies. He took a lot of pride and pleasure working with his father in the family business.
Some of his enduring qualities included a gentle and soft spoken manner, kind and loving brother, son, uncle, and grandfather, qualities that attracted many good people to him.
Steven’s first marriage was to late Mrs. Debora Daniels with whom he had a child, Sarita Daniels. His second wife, late Mrs. Rebekah Somersall with whom he had two children: Zydawna and Jahnee Daniels.
Steven was preceeded in death by his brother Frank Daniels Jr III, sister Bridget Duvall, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Goldie Daniels.
His surviving relatives included his daughters, Zydawna Daniels, Jahnee Daniels, Sarita Daniels, Zebora Daniels, Ms. Jackson: his granddaughter, Ayana Daniels. Also left to mourn his death were his (seven siblings); three brothers: Michael Daniels, Marcus Daniels and his wife Carolyn Daniels and Marcello Daniels; four sisters: Julia Daniels, Denise Okoye and her husband Godwin Okoye, Debora Daniels, Ingrid Smith and her husband, Brain Smith. His nieces and nephews included Michael Harris and his wife Tanya Harris, Maurice Daniels, Nia Harris and her husband Curtis Nickols, Shelley Barnett, Martin Okoye, Gina Okoye, Goldie Okoye, Reginald Daniels, Anthony Daniels, Brian Smith Jr, Alicia Smith, Kimberly Manning, Julia Daniels, Shawn Daniels, Fallon Ellis, Dushawn Daniels, Shakina Daniels, Stephanie Daniels and a host of other friends and family.
