Shawtyeria Miracle Waites
July 25, 2001 - August 27, 2021
At aged 20, Shawtyeria Miracle Waites was taken from us far too soon on July 25, 2021, in Houston Texas.   Shawtyeria was born July 25, 2001, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Shawntell Monique Waites.  Shawtyeria’s great grandparents Taylor and Lovie Waites raised her.  She was survived by her great grandmother Lovie Waites, Grandmother Sharon Waites, and her immediate siblings, Saysonci Peters, Shaquoia Godwin, and Shakill Tremaine Waites.
Shawtyeria was a bright girl in that she graduated a year early from Manzano High school in 2019.  She decided to continue her studies at Prairie View A&M University right out of high school.  After completing her freshman year at Prairie View, she decided to pursue her passion for travel in 2020, traveling to places like Detroit, New York, York, Las Vegas, California, Miami, Ohio, Washington, and even planning upcoming trips to places like Dubai, Maldives, and Egypt.  A lion-hearted girl with dreams that consisted of nothing more than satisfying her soul's mission. Shawtyeria did everything in her power to make sure she felt content in the life she was given so she could chase the life she believed she deserved.  Shawtyeria’s aspiration for travel was fueled by her admiration for seeing and learning new things. She shot for every star but was aiming for the moon, she knew there was so much more to life than what was perceived and placed in front of her, and she proved that to herself every day.
She was resilient.  Her faith was so much stronger than her fears.  There was absolutely nothing she couldn’t do, and she knew it.   No matter the hill or hole, she always kept climbing or dug herself out. We all knew that about her.   Shawtyeria touched so many lives with her kind heart, her baby face, her laugh and her personality were one in a million, and her smile was so contagious.  The funniest individual many people will never get the chance to see, hear or know again.  She was more than a person; she was a shining light. If you were lucky enough to hear her laugh or experience her aura, consider it a blessing!
Shawtyeria had a love for music as it always put her in her mode or on her feet. There were no favorites; she had the broadest range of musical preferences; she loved some old-school R&B but still listened to artists like Mo3, YFN Lucci, and so on.   Her presence was heavier than she weighed and was loved by so many.  She was a best friend, a student, an acquaintance, a sister, a cousin, an aunty, but most of all, she was a piece of us that fulfilled our story, a piece that will forever be missing.  She will always be remembered as the Life of the party. Shawtyeria Miracle Waites will always be thought of when you make a joke or laugh.  Her touch may no longer be skin to skin, but she definitely left a print on our minds and hearts.
