Father God has laid to rest the spiritual body of Ruby Lucille (Price) Pennington, October 17, 2015. She leaves behind to mourn her passing, her beloved husband of fifty-eight years, John Franklin Pennington (Penny). She was the last sibling of two combined families (Price and Hunter) with nineteen children. Her brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Ruby was born on February 1, 1922 in Paris, Texas to Fleta (Henson) Price and Elam Price. She was a faithful member of Grant Chapel A.M.E. Church, working until her illness prevented her from doing so. She was a church Stewardess and cooked in the church kitchen for all activities. She and John joined Grants Chapel in 1986.
Ruby worked for A&P grocery store in Detroit for many years as a cashier. After their retirement, they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada for a while and later decided to move on to Albuquerque, New Mexico and they built their love nest home in Los Lunas in 1985.
She loved life and lived a full and blessed one. She and John were the jewels of our families. Ruby loved to entertain and was a wonderful host to friends and relatives. She loved to cook, getting up early to prepare food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their homes in Inkster, Michigan and New Mexico were favorite stops. Their New Mexico home became an annual stop for a busload of family, friends, and visitors traveling from Louisville, KY on a gambling trip. She and John loved to gamble for fun and, of course, the winnings!
Ruby loved to dance and she always knew the latest steps. She was an artful person who loved to paint and decorate her home, clothing, and shoes. We believe her favorite color was red.
John and Ruby travelled extensively during their younger years to Jamaica, Spain, Africa, Hawaii, Aruba and Italy. They shared stories of the travel adventures with the family members and bought back great souvenirs.
Loving ones left behind to mourn her absence are her nieces and nephews from Kentucky, Michigan, Texas, Colorado, and Utah. Phyllis (Reginald) Jones and Jeffery (Tonya) Mullins are the niece and nephew they have entrusted with their final wishes.
