Paul Torres

Paul B. Torres, age 85, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2019 from multiple health conditions. He was born on September 5, 1933 in San Marcial, NM, the youngest of 14 children, to Eugenio and Teresita Torres. He lived his entire life in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Paul loved people. Family meant the most to him and brought him great joy. Paul was a unique and gregarious man who showed kindness, tenderness, generosity and compassion to every person he encountered and his zest for life was a prime example of a life well-lived. He was loved, admired and appreciated by all.

Paul taught at San Ignacio Catholic School. He also worked for the Airport Marina Hotels as a banquet manager, flight kitchen supervisor and maître d' for Fred Harvey Kachina Room restaurant catering to VIPs. Prior to his retirement in 1996, Paul worked in the purchasing department at Carrie Tingley Hospital. When he spoke of things that he treasured, Paul always stated that he loved teaching and enjoyed and proudly supported the fine arts.

Paul is survived by his brother, Arthur R. Torres, niece Cathy Jourdan (spouse Ken), nephew Michael Torres (partner Eddie) and nieces, Elizabeth Pohl (spouse Chris), Dawna Torres (spouse Tracey), and from California, nieces Anita Appiano (spouse Larry) and Cindy Poirier (spouse Bob). In addition, he is survived by multiple great and grand nieces and nephews.

Paul will now join those preceding him in death, his Mother and Father, 12 siblings, Dale Grover his lifetime partner of 50 years, his sister-in-law Gloria Torres and his niece Loretta Nazzarett.

Paul was love, gave love and made everyone feel loved. We will all carry him in our hearts into eternity.

A memorial service will be held at Daniels Family (formerly Strong-Thorne Mortuary), 1100 Coal Ave SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.  A private service will be held at a future date.
