Patricia Bolden Whittington 1949 – 2023
Patricia was born in Lake Wales Florida and always described herself as a Floridan although she was transplanted west in the 1990’s to Pagosa Springs, Colorado; ultimately residing in Albuquerque New Mexico to remain near her grandchildren. Patricia was preceded in death by her daughter, Keely, but survived by her daughter, Nerissa Whittington-Massengale (James) as well as her grandchildren Cristobal, Jay, Paloma and Bolden.
Patricia was a friend to all, mentor to many and lived her life with laughter, sarcasm and intelligence. A strong believer in family and faith, Patricia was an unpretentious and unassuming individual whom one did not forget meeting. Patricia never forgot her childhood in the orange groves of Florida or the simple truths of loving one another as Christ loved her. Professionally, she was a florist, administrator, rancher, and the most amazing homemaker and mother to not only her own children but to all who happened upon her path. Patricia was well read, able to articulate arguments on a myriad of topics, and the ultimate armchair jurist. Her quick wit would often find her in at odds with those of weaker constitutions, but generally found her friends for life.
Patricia believed in supporting our military and veterans as well as democracy and candidates she believed would uphold her rights. She loved all animals and her pets ranged from a wolf to golden retrievers. We know Pat is in heaven as a believer in Christ, however, she did not want a traditional funeral service. In that vein, we ask that you attend or hold your own “Party for Pat,” toasting her with champagne, tequila, Coca-Cola, or Sprite, while loving the life you have been given. Please feel free to donate to the USO, your local animal shelter, maybe even adopt a pet, and hug your family in her honor.
