Butler, Mattie Louise
Mattie Louise Pitts was the 4th oldest of 16 Children. Born to Rufus Morgan Pitts and Vera Pitts On May 16, 1928.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Lewis Butler Sr.; her son, Henry Lee Butler; her parents; and brothers, Rufus Pitts, Ray Pitts and sisters, Mary Pitts, Martha Droke, and Dora Dean Davis. She is survived by her six sisters, Lula Mae Daniels, Bertha Louis Jackson, Joyce Moore, Yvonne Ragsdale, Artie Williamson, and Zola Johnson, and brother D’Arcy Ragsdale.
Mattie married Lewis Sr. in 1945 and to this union was born three children, Lewis Butler Jr., Shirley Ann Butler, and Henry Lee Butler.
Mattie was a mighty prayer warrior and became the “mother” of Mount Zion. While praying, fasting, and believing in the mighty works of God she witnessed multiple breakthroughs, miracles, and deliverances.
In the 1957 Lewis Butler Sr. and Mattie became members of Metropolitan Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop W. C. Griffin.
Mattie and her sister in Christ; Sis. Downey became missionaries, traveling to different cities in both New Mexico and Texas.
Mattie supported the production of Word for Deliverance Saints Harbor Cathedral, a radio and TV broadcast that her son, Lewis Butler Jr. oversaw, reaching millions across the world. Their feedback was as far as North Europe, South Europe, and West Africa.
She was called home to rest on January 28, 2022.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, daughter Shirley Thompson of Fountain Hills, AZ.
10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
Service will be held at on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 2:30 PM at Strong Thorne, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, Albuquerque, NM.
