Matthew Kyle Severinghaus, 25, was taken away from us senselessly on Friday, May 26, 2017. One of the brightest lights in our lives is no longer shining. He was born on July 14, 1991 to Jeffrey Brian Severinghaus and Kathryn Fort of Albuquerque, NM. He was a video game enthusiast and animal lover. He was particularly skilled with his hands. He could take things apart, put them back together, and could figure out how things worked without much direction due to the way his mind worked. He loved children and loved his music - especially, playing his music loudly. His favorite colors were red and black. He loved pepperoni pizza, macaroni and cheese, Hamburger-Helper, and Oreos; simple and favorite foods. He was extremely loyal and enjoyed his family very much. He chose his friends carefully and was very close to those in his circle. Matthew was currently employed as a store associate with Target.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jeffrey Severinghaus; grandparents, Gilbert & Patricia Severinghaus and Robert Fort. Matthew is survived by his mother, Kathryn Fort-Severinghaus of Albuquerque, NM; siblings, Nadeige Severinghaus, Brian Severinghaus, and Haeja England; grandmother, Nina Fort; uncle Daniel Fort, Uncle Tom Severinghaus and his wife, Beverly, Uncle Dan Severinghaus, and his wife, Beverlee; cousins, Rebecca Severinghaus, Rachael Severinghaus, Cassandra Severinghaus, Allen Severinghaus, Julie Fort and Pierre Fort.
A private Graveside Service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 12:30 PM at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Ave SE, Albuquerque. Pallbearers: Brian, Uncle Dan, Kevin Jones, Josh Loomis, Mike Montoya, Elliot Hungate, and honorary pallbearer Uncle Tom. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Animal Humane New Mexico.
