Mary Cecelia Small

Mary Cecelia Small, a beloved artist from Jemez Pueblo, has peacefully passed away at the age of 83. Mary was born on July 12 1940, in Jemez Pueblo, where she grew up surrounded by the rich culture traditions of her community. From a young age, Mary showed a talent and passion for art, which would become a central part of her life.

As an artist, Mary's creativity knew no bounds. Her work reflected not only her immense skill but also her deep connection to her heritage and the world around her. Through her art, Mary was able to capture the beauty of nature, the spirit of her people, and the essence of life itself.

Mary's love for art was only surpassed by her love for her family. She was a devoted mother to her children and a doting grandmother to her grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and strength that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

In addition to her family, Mary is survived by many friends and members of the Jemez Pueblo community who will deeply miss her presence. Her memory will live on through her artwork and in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Mary Cecelia Small will be remembered not only for her incredible talent as an artist but also for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit. May she rest in peace knowing that she has left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.

She will truly be missed. 

A Mass will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 11:00 am at Christian Life Center Assembly, 1357 NM-4, San Isidro, NM 87053.
