Manson's C. Smith Jr., a beloved resident of Albuquerque, NM, peacefully passed away on December 30, 2023. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an esteemed member of the community. Manson was 82 years old at the time of his passing.

Born in Cedar Bluff, Alabama  to Manson C. Smith and Ruth Smith-Perkins.  He has seven siblings, Russell Smith, Lee Andrew Smith, Leon Smith, Cynthian Reese, Juanita Reese, Dovie Banks, Lovie Smith and Darrell Wyatt to include a host of nephews and nieces. Manson moved to Los Angeles where he married Elaine Frances Smith, then moved to Albuquerque, NM.  Manson embraced the city as his home for over 55 years. He shared a beautiful life with his late wife, Elaine and together, they built a strong foundation of love, support, and cherished memories.

Manson's legacy lives on through his children, Davedda Smith and Manson C. Smith III. Including his granddaughters, Alexandria Clark, Adrianne Williams, Ysabelle Smith, Madison Smith; great grandchildren Jacob Clark and Emerie Clark.  Manson’s daughter and son were a constant source of pride and joy in his life. Manson's love for his family was immeasurable, and he always put their needs above his own.

During the week, Manson dedicated his time and skills as a trade painter at Sandia Laboratory, where he retired, leaving his mark on numerous streets and buildings in that community. He approached his work with dedication and precision, ensuring the satisfaction of his clients. Manson's craftsmanship and attention to detail were well-known, earning him the respect and admiration of his peers.

On the weekends, Manson's passion for music made evident as he embraced his role as a humble gospel singer. His soulful voice touched the hearts of all who heard him, and he used his talent to inspire and uplift others.  Manson sang in the choir at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church for years and he also served a term as the choir president. Manson's gospel performances were a testament to his deep-rooted faith in God, and he found solace and strength in his spiritual connection.

Manson's unwavering commitment to his faith, family, and work was a testament to his character.  Manson’s charity work was supporting the local homeless shelters.  He’d pick up pastries from Smith's grocery stores and would take pastries downtown to the shelters and anyone who needed it. He understood the value of hard work and the importance of providing for his loved ones. Manson's life was a reflection of his dedication and love for those he held dear.
