Age 81, was born in Albuquerque, NM on February 14, 1933 and passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 7:14 AM. She was married to Manford Peralta, Jr. for 61 years. They met while they were in school and became lifetime sweethearts, companions, and best friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend and homemaker. She vacationed regularly with her family and friends and participated in all family events, sports, and special activities. She was a devoted Catholic at St. Francis Xavier and St. Charles Borromeo Churches. She graduated from St. Mary's in 1952. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emiliano and Gavina Perea; her sister, Pearl Newburn; and her in-laws, Manfor and Helen Peralta, Sr. Lucy's siblings include Mike Perea and Bessie Strickland. She is survived by her husband, Manford; her four children and their husbands, Lucille Garcia, Marlene Johnson, Sharon and Ken McManis and Glenda and Tommy Gutierrez; eight grandchildren, Crystal Garcia-Vigil, Dawn Garcia-Atler, Michael and Holly Johnson, Brandon and Justin McManis, Thomas Ray and Gabriella Gutierrez; nine great-grandchildren, Estrella Garcia-Vigil, Antonio Vigil, Serena Garcia-Ruiz, Marissa Atler, Thalia Garcia, Nikki, Nathan, Jaina and Jacee Johnson, Matai Gutierrez; and one great-great-grandchild, Dimitri Garcia-Ruiz; extended grandchildren, Brad Johnson, Jason Sanchez, and Peter Rivera. The Viewing will be held from 6:00 PM until the Rosary begins at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave SE. The Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1801 Hazeldine Ave SE, and followed immediately with interment at Sunset Memorial Park. Lucy's spirit, wisdom, faith and strength will always be with us for eternity. She will never be forgotten. Pallbearers will be Michael Johnson, Thomas Ray Gutierrez, Brandon McManis, Justin McManis, Brad Johnson, and Antonio Vigil. Honorary Pallbearers will be Raymond Griego, Max Sanchez, Crystal Garcia, Gabriella Gutierrez, Mark Coca, Peter Rivera, and Jason Sanchez.
