We are saddened to announce the passing of Lucy Huff on August 12, 2019. Her passing was peaceful and in her sleep.
She was welcomed into the arms of her parents, James Riley Mays and Elizabeth K. Mays in Hondo, Texas on November 1, 1927. She graduated from Ft. Stockton High School and followed her dreams by attending Business College. While in Ft. Worth she met and married the love of her life, George T. Huff. They raised their family with pride and love. Lucy will be remembered for the love she had for her family, special love for her grand and great grandchildren and dancing her little heart away to country music.
Our beloved Lucy is survived by her brother and his wife, Robert and Dixie Mays of North Platte, Nebraska, dear sister Colleen Simpson of Albuquerque, NM. Lucy is also survived by 3 daughters; Beverly Prescott and Sherry Huff-Battin of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Kathy and husband Joe Smith of Kiowa, Oklahoma. She was blessed with 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Lucy was preceded in death by her loving parents, husband George T. Huff, and son George T. Huff Jr. Also preceding her in death were sisters Helen Lee Mannan and Virgia Lambert and brother J.R Mays Jr., all of San Angelo, TX.
She will be missed immensely.
Please join our family on Friday, August 23 at Strong-Thorne from 11:30am to 12:30pm, followed by a graveside service at Sandia Memory Gardens at 1:00pm and reception in Lucy’s home afterward.
