Lovie Ann Ransom, born on March 7, 1949, in Rison, Arkansas, passed away on March 7, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She lived her life as a beloved figure and pillar of strength within her community, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Lovie graduated from Albuquerque High School, marking the beginning of a journey filled with dedication and love. Shortly after graduating, she married Willie Lee Smith, embarking on a partnership that would shape her life's path. For 30 years, Lovie worked for the Salvation Army in various roles, diligently serving her community as a store manager at several locations before retiring. Her commitment to helping others set a powerful example of kindness and selflessness.
Lovie is survived by her daughter, Sheila Ransom and son, Earl Ransom. She was a proud grandmother to Zuberi Ransom, Nicole Moore Ransom, Ryeisha Ransom, Sharraine Ransom, MoeNeeah Ransom, Ryan Ransom, and Earl Ransom Jr. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Jaysha Bowers Ransom, Eli Ransom, Akeem Ransom and Little Lovie Ransom, not to forget her loving dog Shabazz Ransom, who carry forward her loving spirit.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Willie Smith, along with her brothers Theodis Ransom Jr, James Ransom, Freeman Ransom, and Lendon Ransom, and her sister, Carloyn Ransom. She also grieved the loss of her grandson, Syeid Haggin Ransom, and cherished the companionship of her second husband and best friend, Robert Beachum whom she loved dearly.
A graveside service will be held on March 18, 2025, at Fairview Memorial Park, located at 700 Yale Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106, starting at 11:30 AM. This gathering of family and friends will honor a remarkable woman whose compassion and dedication to her community will forever be remembered.
