Lenora L. Givens, passed away unexpectedly on December 19, 2017. Lenora was born February 4, 1952 to the late Cleo and Rita Verdell.
God needed her more. She was known as “Fluffy” by her family and friends. Born and raised in Camden, New Jersey, she was educated in the Camden City school system. Lenora enjoyed taking trips with her mother and friends to Atlantic City and participating in tonk and pity pat card games. She was serious about her cards. Lenora left New Jersey at a young age to become a military wife where she sacrificed and provided the best lifestyle for her children. She is retired from the Army Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES) as a supervisor after serving 34 years of service.
Lenora never met a stranger who didn’t become a friend and her sassy personality is what attracted people to her. She loved her family dearly. She was proud of all her children. Her first born, Aaron, Jr., was signed up for every possible sport when he was younger. She made sure she attended every sporting activity he was in. She was known as the mother at the football games running from one end to the other hollering and daring someone to tell her to be quiet. Her second born, Barbara, learned from Lenora to be an independent young lady and a great mom like her. Her third born, Corey, was her baby. He was spoiled rotten.
She is survived by her son, Aaron Givens, Jr. and daughter, Barbara Givens who will cherish her memory forever. She was referred to as “Nana” by her grandchildren. Nana, was blessed with six beautiful grandchildren. Shaquia Givens-Peterson, Joshua Givens, Jasanyiea Givens, E’Averi Washington, Sanaa Givens, and Dacia Givens. She is also survived, by her sister Barbara Fussell and brother Benjamin Verdell, a special niece Lasheka Carrington “Lala”. She is predeceased by her parents, Cleo and Rita Verdell, her son, Corey Givens, brothers, Arnett, James “Jimmy”, Kevin “Scotty”, Lawrence “Larry” and Jamal “Teeny”, special Aunt-in-law Thelma Givens, and many nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
