Joseph N Ponder Jr, passed from this life on Friday October 7, 2022. He was living with his daughter Patricia French, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born on July 23,1930 to Joseph Sr & Willo Marylee (Washington) Ponder, in Hugoton Kansas. He joined the Army in 1951 and served in the Korean War. While serving he received the Combat Infantry Award and three bronze medals. He served his country proudly. He lived his life to the fullest. He loved family and friends and he was always there to help anyone that was in need. His first wife was Barbara Williams Ponder. He remarried in 1985 to the love of his life, Ramona Ponder. He owned his own construction company called P & P Painting.
He loved fishing, camping and all animals. He had dogs, cats, ducks, doves, chickens and many other types. He loved playing bid whist and blackjack, and he was pretty good. He loved New Mexican food and said NM didn’t have chili to hot for him to eat.
He was proceeded in death by both parents, Joseph Sr & Willo Ponder, his wife Ramona Ponder and two daughter's Mary Alice Burnell and Lena Lafayette Williams. Five brothers; Theodore (Ted) Ponder, Francis (Big Boy) Ponder. William (Bill) Ponder, Eddie Ponder and Fred Ponder. Four sisters Ella Mae Boyd, Obera Martin, Alta Pettis, and Ruth Washington. Living are his two sons Quique E.L (wife) Elodia Johnson, Joseph N (Wife) Erica Ponder. Twelve daughters; Edna Dallas, Marita Ponder, Patricia French, Dannetta (Husband) Kehinde Akintunde, Linda (Husband) Jerry Graves, Janice Going, Lisa Ponder, Christy Ponder Going. Joann Moses, Christine Ponder, Jacqueline Ponder. He leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was blessed to see five generations.

Visitation will be held Saturday October 15, 2022 12:00 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church 1509 Edith Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.

Interment on Tuesday October 18, 2022 11:00 am at Santa Fe National Cemetery 501 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, NM 87501.
