John Wayne Booker

October 1, 1952 — September 7, 2024

Albuquerque

In Loving Memory of John Wayne Booker “known to family and friends as “Wayne.” John Wayne Booker passed away September 7th 2024.

Wayne was born October 1, 1952 in Midland, Texas to the late Aleane and Robert Booker. As a young boy Wayne and his family moved to Albuquerque, NM where he resided for the rest of his life. Wayne attended the Job Corp of Albuquerque, NM in the early seventies which he successfully completed. Wayne wanted to further his education and pursue his passion of Law. Though he did not complete Law School he definitely retained a lot of knowledge that he utilized over the years - Especially the “PENAL CODE.”

Wayne met and fell in love with the late Karen Booker who he was married to for over forty-five years. They had their first son Terry Booker in August of 1982. Wayne and Karen welcomed their second son Sean in October of 1986. Wayne and Karen were blessed to become grandparents of eight grandchildren. Wayne adored and loved his wife, sons and grandchildren unconditionally as the love he carried was expressed to his entire family. Wayne was a big Smokey Robinson fan and would sing his songs at the famous family Christmas party he and his wife Karen hosted every year. Wayne’s voice was a complete replica of Smokey Robinson. Wayne not only had the voice, but the looks and the attire to fit. As Wayne and his wife Karen would say “SHARP.”

Wayne was very family oriented and would always initiate family gatherings. If it was a bar - b - que you could count on him making his secret bar - b - que sauce with the fresh lemon juice in it. Any holiday you knew Wayne was going to dress for the occasion.

Wayne was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. Wayne was brought up in a household where God was first in his life. A father who was a deacon and a mother who was an anointed prayer warrior. Wayne was a God fearing and praying man. He instilled faith, prayer and repentance not only to his sons, but grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Wayne loved life and would always tell others ‘Live your life”. As he held on to this quote to the very end. Wayne will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. His legacy will forever live.

John Wayne Booker was preceded in death by his wife Karen Booker, baby grandson Carson, his parents Robert and Aleane Booker, his sister Anniemarie Booker, Emma Jean Booker, and his brothers Corkey Eugene Booker, Billy Booker, Cardy Booker, and Johnny Booker.
