Joe Sprunk, 58, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017, with his loving family by his side. He was born on August 17, 1958 in Sacramento, CA to Joe and Mabel (Chavez) Sprunk. He had served as the Deputy Warden of the Sandoval County Detention Center and as Warden of the Taos County Adult Detention Center. He was not shy about his loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys. Joe loved all things American; he was a true patriot who loved his country and was so proud of our military and those that protect and serve our country. He loved the US Flag and anything that encouraged American patriotism. It's only fitting that America's Team refers to his beloved Cowboys. He had recently taken up the art of creating walking sticks. His heart and soul belonged to his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed sharing his wit and wisdom with each family member.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joe Sprunk, and a son, Anthony Sedillo. He is survived by the love of his life - his wife of 26 years, Michelle "Shelly" (Kroen) Sprunk, of Albuquerque, NM; children, Vanessa Alvillar, Joseph Sprunk and his wife, Kayla, Tamara Sprunk and companion, Michael Montoya, all of Albuquerque, and Marina Giannini and husband, Charles, of Rio Rancho, NM; grandchildren, Josiah, Jessika, Carlo, Lillianna, and Alessia; mother, Mabel Sprunk; siblings, Ric Sprunk, Mike Sprunk, Denise Altamirano, James Sprunk and Martin Sprunk.
The Rosary will be recited at 2:00 PM with the Funeral Service to begin at 2:30 PM on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Strong-Thorne, 1100 Coal Ave SE, Albuquerque.
