Ivie Smith, a beloved figure to many, was born in Clarendon, Texas, to Mary Little Moon Hall and Thomas Jefferson Jones. She graduated from George Washington Carver High School in Amarillo, Texas, in 1957.
In 1958, Ivie met the love of her life, Raymond R. Smith, and they joyfully married in 1962, sharing a remarkable bond that lasted for 67 years. On October 14, 2024, Ivie peacefully joined her heavenly father, walking on the golden streets of glory.
Ivie was a devoted wife and mother, she is survived by her best friend, companion and husband Raymond R. Smith, also leaving behind her two children: Michele Suiter of Kansas City, Missouri, and Steven Smith of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She also cherished her adopted daughter in faith, Marlean Acker of Little Rock, Arkansas, and her lovingly nieces, Calandra Coney, Mikala Coney, and Royzetta Russel.
As a grandmother, she took pride in her grandchildren Taneisha White, Shawn White, Sterling White, and her adopted grandchildren in faith Jason Jones and Marlean Jones. She was also a caring aunt to numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Throughout her life, Ivie made significant contributions to her community. She served as the Girls Scouts Director in Oahu, Hawaii, and the Associate Director of the Northeast District of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Additionally, she enjoyed her role as department manager of women’s apparel at Mervyn's department store and as a teacher at St. Columbkille Catholic School in Los Angeles, California, and Holy Family School in Honolulu, Hawaii.
In 1979, Ivie became an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, rising to the esteemed position of Grand Worthy Matron and serving as Imperial Deputy Directress of the Daughter of Isis of the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order of the Mystic Shrine. She was also the Loyal Lady Ruler of the Order of the Golden Circle, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to these organizations.
Ivie was known for her warm spirit and her ability to make everyone feel welcome. Her kindness touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
