Irene Wilson, 78, left to dance on the streets of heaven on March 2, 2025.
Irene Wilson was born on the 13th day of March in 1946, to her mother Pauliana Padilla in San Felipe Pueblo. She spent her early years growing up in the village with her 9 brothers and sisters. She developed a strong work ethic at a young age helping her mother clean houses as her firstjob. During this time she was blessed with three kids; Abenita, James, and Glenda Padilla. She then began working for Levi’s Strauss in 1981 as a seamstress. After 16 years she retired from Levi’s and worked at Winrock for another 12 years. She then retired from Winrock and embracedthe joys of being a grandmother.
In 1973, Irene met her husband Virner Wilson at El Madrid in Albuquerque. A true match made by God, Virner could not resist the radiance of Irene’s smile. Irene and Virner were married on May 4, 1974 and went on to have two children; Benny and Patricia Wilson. Together they livedwith five children and a cat named Chow Chow.
Irene made sure to live a fulfilling life. She loved to spend her summers out of the house either fishing or camping making sure she had a year's supply of catfish and green chili. Walks at Tingley beach or a swim on a hot day, sitting listening to music doing her crossword puzzle weresome little things that brought Irene joy. Irene and Virner shared a love of football. Though they didn’t see eye to eye on the same team, the sounds of cheers and laughter on football Sundays is a sound we will remember in our hearts. Being present with family was something Irene tried notto take for granted, she tried to be present for as many graduations, birthdays and holidays. In her retired years she enjoyed meeting her friends every morning for breakfast and coffee or having a good meal at Loyola’s on the weekends with her husband. Irene was a proud member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and made sure to serve the Lord she loved. She relied on her deep Christian faith to live her life and embrace peace and positivity. She will be remembered by her laugh that echoed like a melody too beautiful to forget. She will truly be remembered and missedby all family and friends.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 Irene Wilson is reunited with her mother Pauliana Padilla, husband Virner Wilson, son Benny Wilson. She is living through her daughters; Abenita, Glenda, and Patricia and her son James.
