Ian Mathew, Olivia Renee, and Elijah “Eli” Ray, were taken from a family, friends and community that loved them dearly on December 5, 2016. Each of these precious children possessed such a giving spirit and their absence will be missed. May memories of their beautiful smiles and joyful laughter comfort every person who was fortunate to know each child.
Ian was born on August 10, 2007 in Albuquerque, NM and was in the Fourth Grade at Manzano Mesa Elementary School. He loved playing baseball and was an incredible teammate by always encouraging others. He and his Dad, Joshua, were taking guitar lessons together. They enjoyed cheering on the UNM Lobos. Ian was a brilliant student who excelled in Math and Reading. He would read several books at one time and could easily tell you about each storyline.
Olivia was born on December 11, 2009 in Albuquerque, NM and was in the First Grade at Manzano Mesa Elementary School. She enjoyed endless hours of watching YouTube to learn how to craft and cook. Olivia was very responsible and demonstrated that quality by putting herself to bed at night, waking herself up in the morning and then waking her family up each morning. She helped her Mom, Cheryl, cook meals – especially breakfast. Cupcake Wars was her favorite television show. Olivia’s artistic nature created beautiful drawings and paintings. Each of these items will be treasured forever.
Eli was born on June 6, 2011 in Albuquerque, NM and was in Kindergarten at Manzano Mesa Elementary School. He was the best giver of hugs! He was extremely generous and was growing his gorgeous hair out to donate to “Locks of Love.” Eli was, also the biggest goofball and loved telling jokes. His favorite: “What does a nosey pepper do? It gets jalapeno your business!” His hearty laugh would fill the air after he told his latest joke. It was noticed from a very early age that he had quite an arm for baseball. He excelled at the sport!
Ian, Olivia and Eli are survived by their parents, Cheryl (Justice) Mascarenas and Joshua Mascarenas, of Albuquerque, NM; grandparents, Hubert and Tracy Justice, Edward and Donna Mascarenas, all of Albuquerque, NM; great-grandmother, Nell Scott; uncles, Gene Justice, Matthew Mascarenas and wife, Melanie, Wade Mascarenas and wife, Renee; cousins, Lily Justice and Juan Carlos Maes.
They were all generous, loving and kind.
The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 2, 2017 at Believers Center of Albuquerque, 320 Waterfall Drive SE, Albuquerque, NM, with Pastor Marshall Townsley, presiding. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park.
