Smith, Henry William "Smitty" Jr.
Age 75, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021. He was born in Hollandale, MS on December 18, 1945 to Carrie David and William Smith. He was one of 10 children who include, Vernon Dorsey, Berkley Smith, Troy Smith, Darnell Smith, Joann Smith, Diane Wynn, Patricia Smith, Louise Smith and Charles Smith. He married Lenora Washington Smith in Hollandale, MS on September 10, 1967, they were high school sweethearts of 54 years. Henry graduated from Simmons High School in Mississippi. He was the star running back of the football team. He also ran track for Simmons High School. Henry also won many awards for football and track. In High School he worked at the Simmons High School in the shop department. Henry also worked at US Steel in the steel plant in Gary, Indiana as well as at American Gypsum (center) in Albuquerque, NM as a foreman until her retired. Henry served in the Air Force in 1967 when he married Lenora Washington, he served as a Aircraft mechanic he was honorably discharged in 1972. When he and Lenora had thier first child, Trina Renee Smith in 1970 and a second child, Genise Michelle Smith in 1973 and then their third child, Christie Lynn Smith in 1975.  Henry lived in Hollandale, Mississippi, Gary Indiana and Albuquerque, New Mexico. He loved fishing he fished in many places, his favorite place to fish was Sandia Lake where he caught big fish with his brothers, Troy Smith, Darnell Smith, Berkley Smith and grandson, Jerome Ward Jr. He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Jenise Greathouse.
Henry is survived by his wife, Lenora Smith; two daughters, Trina Smith, Christine Smith; son in law, Youel Greathouse; grandchildren, Jerome Ward Jr., Amaria Smith; great grandchildren, Raechelle Greathouse, Lasiah Ward, Taxavion Smith, Tyshaun Smith; nieces and nephews, Jeanea Tally, Lavena Wynn, Tamika Wynn, Mynika Johnson, Sophia Reynolds, Kiuanta Parnell, Penny Smith, Kisha Lackey, Troy Smith Jr., Joaquin Smith, Antiwan Wynn, Avery Sce, Marquio Smith, Andre Lackey, Vernon Dorsey Jr. Tyrone Lane, Curtis Lane and so many more nieces, nephews, cousins and family; friends, Glenn Miller, Charles Lucas, Webster Teamer, Donald Thadeus and many more friends.
