Glenna Jean Nolen, a longtime resident of Albuquerque passed away on January 30, 2015. She was born to Jack Nolen and Farris Nichols Nolen in Wichita Falls, TX on October 15, 1928. She was raised by Farris and a wonderful stepfather, Franz Taylor. Glenna graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1947. In 1948, while working for an insurance company downtown, she met Bob, a University of New Mexico senior and World War II Vet, through a mutual friend. They were married on November 19, 1948 at Central Methodist Church at Central and Arno. At the age of 32, while working in the Business Office at Texas Wesleyan College in Ft. Worth, TX, Glenna was encouraged by the President of the College to pursue her longtime dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. With grants and much hard work, she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She taught brilliantly for 25 years in schools in Ft. Worth, Grand Junction, and St. Charles and Sunset Mesa in Albuquerque and then retired after many years at Edgewood Elementary. She loved the kids and they loved her. Glenna is survived by her husband, Bob; daughter, Nancy; son, John; granddaughters, Wendy and April; three great-grandchildren, Robert, Thomas, and Patricia; and seven great-great-grandchildren; a younger sister, Priscilla Turner of Pound Ridge, NY; and a very special cousin, though they were raised like sisters, Wanda Isenberg, of Crowley, TX, all of whom she loved very much. Cremation has taken place and the Memorial Services will take place at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Central United Methodist Church, 201 University Blvd NE, Albuquerque, where she was a longtime member of the Partnership Class.
