Glenn Von Dreele

GLENN NORMAN VON DREELE, AGE 71, A BELOVED HUSBAND, FATHER, BROTHER, AND UNCLE DEPARTED THIS LIFE SUDDENLY ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2021. HE WAS A RESIDENT OF ALBUQUERQUE SINCE THE EARLY 50’S, WHEN HIS PARENTS RELOCATED TO NEW MEXCIO FROM NEW JERSEY AFTER HIS FATHER ACCEPTED A POSITION WITH SANDIA LABORATORIES. WHILE ATTENDING CLEVELAND JR HIGH, HE HELD THE SCHOOL RECORD OF LETTERING IN FOUR SPORTS, FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, TRACK AND BASEBALL. DURING HIS YEARS ATTENDING DEL NORTE HIGH SCHOOL, HE LETTERED IN FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL, GRADUATING IN 1967. HE CONTINUED HIS EDUCATION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO, RECEIVING A BACHELORS OF UNIVERSITY STUDIES IN DECEMBER 1971. GLENN ENLISTED ON JANUARY 27, 1970 IN THE AIR NATIONAL GUARD OF NEW MEXICO AND WAS HONORABLY DISCHARGED JAN 29TH, 1971. GLENN WAS THE OWNER OF PUEBLO MOTORS, A CHRYSLER, PLYMOUTH, DODGE AND JEEP DEALERSHIP IN TAOS, N. M., FROM 1979 TO SEPT 1996. HE WAS A PILLAR OF THE COMMUNITY BY HELPING SEVERAL LOCAL AGENCIES, BUSINESSES, THE TAOS PUEBLO AND FAMILIES WITH AFFORDABLE NEW AND USED VEHICLES AND QUALITY REPAIRS. HE LOVED SUPPORTING A TAOS YOUTH BASEBALL TEAM EVERY YEAR WITH DONATIONS FOR UNIFORMS. GLENN WAS A ONE OF KIND GUY. WE HAVE ALL SHARED HIS LOVE. WE HAVE RECEIVED HIS WITTINGLY APTITUDE OF USING WORDS IN A QUICK INVENTIVE “HIS” WAY TO CREATE HUMOR AMONG FAMILY AND FRIENDS. GLENN HAD SEVERAL PASSIONS IN LIFE. AMONG THOSE WERE FISHING AT WILLIAMS’ CREEK IN PAGOSA SPRINGS, HORTICULTURE OF ROSES AND FRUIT TREES, MULTIPLE SPECIALTY CARS, OVER 50 YEARS OF ATTENDING LOBO FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL GAMES, MUSIC…ESPECIALLY THE MOODY BLUES, NASCAR RACING EVENTS, APPRECIATION OF ART, AND CRUISING THE FJORDS OF ALASKA. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS SOULMATE AND SPOUSE ROSE MARIE VON DREELE OF 35 YEARS, HIS DAUGHTERS ALLISON VON DREELE, SHAWN VON DREELE, BOTH OF CALIFORNIA, VIKKI RENDON (DAVE) OF UTAH, STEPSON ADAM MCCULLOCH (HEIDI) OF FLORIDA, HIS BROTHER WAYNE (KATIE) OF FLORIDA, HIS SISTER SANDRA KIMZEY (REED) OF TEXAS, SIX GRANDCHILDREN, SEVERAL NIECES AND NEPHEWS. ALL OF WHICH LOVED HIM DEARLY. HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS JOHN AND JOSEPHINE VON DREELE, AND HIS SISTER WENDY VON DREELE. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, THE FAMILY SUGGESTS THAT MEMORIAL DONATIONS MAY BE MADE TO THE UNM LOBO CLUB. THERE WILL BE A CELEBRATION OF LIFE TO BE ANNOUNCED AT A LATER DATE DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS THRU DANIELS’ STRONG THORNE FUNERAL HOME ,1100 COAL AVE SE, ALBUQUERQUE, NM 87106.
