Gertrude M. Boyer was called home on Sunday, August 6, 2023. She was the last to join her mom (Gertrude Fielder), her dad (Henry Fielder), siblings (Clarence, Al, Cleo Fielder and Veola Gooden) and husband, Hobart.
Gertrude had no fears and sharp wit. She was a one student graduate of Booker T. Washington in Las Cruces, NM. Because of this, she had her own personalized class ring, which she wore proudly, her own Baccalaureate Service, and a one student Graduation Ceremony. She went on to attend New Mexico A & M (now NMSU).
She had met and got to know Hobart through her brother. Upon Hobart’s return from Germany, he went to visit her brother at the family home, she answered the door. The rest of the story lasted 67 years. They moved to Albuquerque in 1954 where they became a faithful member of Phillips Chapel CME Church.
Gertrude worked in the medical field. Upon her Retirement from St Joseph Hospital, she and her hubby traveled to Postal Conventions across the United States. She became a Local and National Officer to the National Association of Letter Carriers Auxiliary where she taught Postal Benefits. She loved baking, telling stories of her past, and HATS!
She is survived by her daughter, Marcia Boyer, Grandson, Brandon Boyer (the real joy of her life), Great-Grandsons Ja’Brae, Lincoln, and Zion Boyer, who affectionately caller her GG, her sons in Christ, Rev AB Simon and Rev. Jeff Sirmons, Brother In-laws Aristotle Boyer, Olin Boyer, Henry Boyer (Marva). Sister In-laws Clara Sims, Pauline Hunt (Harold), Olene Boyer and Yvonne Boyer, a whole lotta nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends.
