George Raymond White Sr., lovingly known as "Big George," passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico—the city where he was born, raised, and deeply loved.
Born on October 5, 1961, to Wayne E. White and Estella M. White, George was a man who carried a quiet strength, a generous heart, and an unwavering devotion to his family and community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Estella White and his brother Wayne Jr. George is survived by his devoted wife Tracy White; his son George White Jr. and wife Melanie White; his daughter Estella Swain and husband Mark Swain; his grandchildren Shalom White, Augustine Lockhart, Bernadette Delgado (Husband Luis), Mark Swain, Jr., and Miles Swain; his siblings Victor White and Sharon White; and countless family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
George was the beloved husband of Tracy White, who he affectionately called his "Sweetheart" or "Trey" Their nearly 45 years of marriage were a testament to enduring love and partnership, She often described them as “two sparrows in a hurricane who always found their way.” Together, they weathered life’s storms with grace and built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering commitment to each other and their family. George and Tracy’s love story wasn’t just a marriage; it was a partnership that inspired everyone around them. Together, they showed what it means to live with love, grace, and dedication, modeling a relationship built on respect and deep connection.
As a father, George was nothing short of extraordinary. His son, George Jr. (“Little George”), mirrors his father’s gentle spirit, brilliance, and uncanny ability to tackle any technical challenge. His daughter, Estella, was his baby and could do no wrong in his eyes. She carries his compassionate heart and fierce advocacy for others, embodying his legacy of love and service. To George, his children were his most treasured accomplishments, his pride and joy.
George was also the cherished grandfather to his grandchildren. He was a source of love, wisdom, and joy—always ready to share a story, a laugh, or a warm embrace.
Professionally, George had a long and impactful career. He retired from the City of Albuquerque after years of service in corrections and later in information technology. A self-taught computer expert, George had a gift for innovation, building his daughter her first computer in 1990—a monochrome-screen, DOS-prompted machine. His passion for technology led him to Hewlett-Packard, where he worked until his retirement in November 2024.
Beyond his work, George’s life was defined by his incredible ability to connect with people. Known and loved throughout Albuquerque, he was recognized everywhere he went for his kindness,
wisdom, and radiant spirit. He was the ultimate “gentle giant,” whose calm presence and warm smile made everyone feel at ease. Babies especially were drawn to him, as though sensing the boundless love he carried in his heart.
To his family, George was more than a husband, father, and grandfather—he was their anchor. His unwavering support, quiet strength, and unconditional love were the foundation of their lives. To his community, he was a beacon of light, someone who left everyone he met feeling valued and cared for.
Services to honor George’s life will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave SE in Albuquerque. Flowers may be sent to the address as well. George’s legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. His family encourages those who loved him to carry forward his spirit by showing compassion, lending a hand to others, and cherishing the bonds that make life meaningful.
Though he is no longer with us, George’s light shines brightly through his family, his community, and the countless lives he touched.
