Emma Brown

Emma Lee Brown, age 55, born June 15, 1961 to James and Emma Lee Brown of Austin, Texas, but raised by her aunt, Lucille Harvey, at the young age of 3 weeks old. Emma, also known as “Hallie” or “Big Emma”, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 at her home in Albuquerque, NM. Hallie attended Eugene Field Elementary, Washington Middle School, and finishing her high school diploma at Albuquerque High School in 1979. In high school, Hallie was well known in sports such as basketball and holding records in Track and Field for Shot Put. Hallie loved to listen to music. You would always catch her jamming to her music on her Boom Box. Hallie had a lot of friends. No matter where she went she made a new friend. One thing about Hallie, despite her size and the base in her voice, she was a softy at heart. She had a lot of love for kids. Hallie did not have children of her own, but that did not stop her from taking a hand in raising the children of others. Emma Lee Brown, Hallie, is loved by so many people and will be truly missed. She is survived by her extended family of Nieces and Nephews, Rochelle Overton and Van Overton Jr. of Albuquerque, NM. Nathan Belmont and Cecily Overton of Hawaii, cousins, but just like her daughters, NaKeisha Barnes of Albuquerque, NM and Alicia Cole (CoCo) of Houston, TX; and the entire Overton family.
Services will be held March 2, 2017 at 5:00pm at Macedonia Baptist Church.
