Ella McNair departed this life on March 24, 2018. She was born September 21, 1920 in Brush Hill, Oklahoma to the late James S. and Lillie Mae (Lowe) Hammonds. At the young age of 13 she joined Whites Chapel Baptist Church in McIntosh County. She later moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma and joined The Jerusalem Baptist Church. Ella relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico over 65 years ago where she joined her final church home, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church (when the late Rev. J.S. Patton was pastor).
Ella is preceded in death by husband Willie McNair and former husband George Wardlow. She is also preceded in death by her five sisters and one brother.
Ella leaves to cherish her precious memory, her only son, Skip Wardlow (wife Amy), seven grandchildren (Evelyn Wardlow, Charles Wardlow, Lania Wardlow, Ella Wardlow, Roman Wardlow, Skipp Wardlow, and Walter Leeds), eight great-grandchildren (Joshua, Guillermo, Jose, Harlee, Reyes, Isadora, Alexander, and Elizabeth); two sisters Ida Mae Lewis and Jestine Valentine (husband Joseph); and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Ella was employed by Bernalillo County until her retirement. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend. She will truly be missed by all.
