Elizabeth “Liz”, age 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1961, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, January 23, 2016. She was born with an enthusiasm for life and had a loving warmth that made anyone feel at home in her presence. Born to Swiss immigrants Ferdinand Wetter and Hedwig Zellweger Wetter in Tekoa, Washington, she grew up on a farm in Plummer, Idaho with ten brothers and sisters, and graduated from the University of Idaho. She worked as a clinical dietitian for many years. She married the love of her life, Robert Resta in 1951, and they were devoted to each other until his passing in 2011. Her primary goal in life was raising her four boys. Her passions were providing delicious healthy meals, tennis, and landscape painting. She leaves behind four sons: Mark Cahill Resta and wife Rosemary, Richard Zellweger Resta, Robert George Resta and wife Victoria, and Dr. Thomas Cahill Resta and wife Juanita; granddaughters Annaliese, Micaela and Elena; and grandsons Rocco Gareth and Sheldon. She was preceded in death by granddaughter Krista. Sincere gratitude goes out to Kathleen Franklin, her caregiver for many years. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 1 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Church. A committal service will follow at 1:30 P.M. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
