Edna Ruth Chelf left to her final home on January 4, 2016 at the age of 66. She is survived by her daughter Celesta Chelf and son Jamil Wilson, daughter Kimberly Poland, Son-in-law David Hice and their expected daughter Daeva Hice. Her mother Velma Jordan and siblings Doe Jackson, Mary Ann Thomas, Sue Walker, Will Carter and Sherry Carter, along with many nieces and nephews.
Edna was born in Quitman, Mississippi, but moved to Pot Creek, NM at the age of 4 with her mother and step-father, where he went to work for the Greyhound bus lines. She eventually gained 6 siblings where they ran havoc in the woods. Edna moved to Albuquerque, NM where she eventually met and married and divorced Robert Chelf and Leslie Poland.
She worked in the manufacturing industry for most of her life. This included Honeywell where she made parts for Stealth Bombers, and GE where she ironically made parts for electronics like TV’s and DVD players, but she didn’t know how to actually work them once they were actually put together. But she also had a few odd jobs like calling bingo. But one thing Edna did do was work multiple jobs at times to support her children.
Edna was always full of life and made friends very easily. She loved country western music and wear, as well as hanging out at country western and gay bars. It was not a surprise that when she wasn’t working, Edna loved to party and have fun. She was very much a social butterfly.
In the end she enjoyed her alone time. Watching Saturday morning cartoons and having her pot of coffee. She turned to listening to more oldies music, doing crossword puzzles and coloring. She had many friends in the nursing home she was in for the last two years, and loved to harass them. Edna will surly be missed by all.
