What can I say about my mom. She was everything, she had a smile as bright as the sun and a heart of pure gold. She was the definition of unconditional love.
Mom was there for everyone. She would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. If you didn’t have a place to stay, she would let you sleep on her couch. Some tried to take her kindness for weakness, but she was nowhere near weak. She was a strong black woman. She endured a lot and still persevered. With all she went through she remained strong. It seemed nothing could break her; she Suffered the death of her oldest daughter, then the death of her husband of forty-four year, the death of her second born son. She moved her mother here from Texas to take care of her for over twenty years. She is a phenomenal woman. My mom was always there for Gail when she was going thru her breast cancer treatment. She was right there with her for every chemo appointment and every doctor visit. Even if she didn’t feel well herself, she was there. Gai says she was supposed to take care of mom, but mom ended up taking care of her. Mom taught us all to read and write before we entered elementary school. Vince says she started him by giving the funny papers to read. She encouraged Vince to take music lessons and appreciate all music types from R&B, Jazz to Gospel and classical music. Vince was a mama’s boy and mom was his role model. Mom taught us all a sense of fashion and how to present ourselves in public. I could say so much more but those who knew her know how she was. I will miss her every day until I see her again in heaven.
