Bobby Ray Shelton was born in Roswell, NM, on March 29, 1954. He passed away suddenly on November 21, 2015. He was a 1972 graduate of Goddard High School and attended Highlands New Mexico University as a star basketball athlete on scholarship. After moving to Albuquerque, he worked for the State Highway Department and held various security jobs, until becoming disabled by a knee injury sustained in college. Mostly a loner, quiet and polite, in recent years, he was a regular in the community. He enjoyed playing the guitar. Growing up, summers were spent in Abilene, TX, with his Uncle and Aunt (now deceased), Isiah and Helen Gindratt; and his closest first cousins, Mildred Gindratt Deckard (Kenneth) of Abilene; Larry Gindratt of Modesto, CA; Curtis Gindratt (Bettye) of Abilene, TX; and is pre-deceased by Isiah Gindratt Jr., and Tony Gindratt.
Bobby is pre-deceased by his father, Lawrence Shelton, and two uncles, Robert Shelton and Isiah Gindratt, Sr. He leaves to mourn his mother, Elizabeth Brown; stepfather, Joe H. Brown; sister, Cecilia LaVerne Shelton Webb; two half-brothers, Lawrence Shelton Jr. of Salt Lake City,UT; and Darryl Shelton of Danville, VA; nephew, Troy L. Taylor of Albuquerque, NM ; aunt, Mattie Shelton Weathersby of Washington, DC; aunt, Ethel Shelton Burch of Nathalie, VA; uncles, Joseph Shelton of Chesapeake, VA; Herbert Shelton of Chesapeake, VA; Gilbert Shelton of Las Vegas, NV; and a host of other relatives.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Ruth Barton, Satellite Cafe, ASAP, his doctors and their staff. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE. The funeral will be held at 1:00 PM on November 30, 2015 at Faith Temple Church of God of Christ, 1000 Broadway SE, Albuquerque. A brief service will be held at 12 Noon and Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in Roswell at the Immanuel Church Of God In Christ, 1000 N.
