Agnes Martinez

Agnes Martinez, 83, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, with her family by her side. She was born on May 19, 1933 to Guadalupe and Lucy (Garcia) Velasquez in Santa Rosa, NM. She moved to the Albuquerque area at the age of 14. She was extremely hardworking and served as a Human Resources Manager in the hotel industry. Agnes was feisty, to say the least. She was a woman of great faith and devotion to the Lord and His teachings. She was most proud of being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her cherished grandson, Christopher Sanchez; and siblings, Maida Sandoval and Jose B. Velasquez. She is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Garcia and Pamela Sanchez, of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Tomas, Teliece, Enrique, Andrew and Veronica; great-grandchildren, Chantal and Antonio; companion, Carmen Rodriguez; sisters, Cecilia Strader and Georgeanna Wheeler; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She had great love for her entire family and many friends. Viewing and Visitation will be from 3:30 PM until 4:00 PM with the  Rosary to be recited at 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Parish, 1860 Griegos Rd NW, Albuquerque. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 18, 20146, also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Parish. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tomas Garcia, Enrique Garcia, Andrew Sanchez, AC Rodriguez, Jr., Joe Velasquez, III., Edward Strader, Jr., Jeremy Ortiz and Antonio Garcia.
